“Do it” this Summer!SWOntario in motion is encouraging youth and families to do physical activities this summer. The health promotion strategy for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton counties is listing the wide variety of day camps and summer activities that incorporate physical activity on the website, www.swontarioinmotion.ca.
In a follow up to the 2009 message of “no child left inside”, SWOntario in motion wanted to focus on more action. “Do it this summer” directs children and youth to be active, everyday. Whether it is public swimming, day camps, speciality camps or playing at the park, there is something for everyone in almost every community. Although many of the day camps and programs require a fee, check with your local municipality to find out if there is funding available for children and youth registered in programs.
Visit www.swontarioinmotion.ca to find out about activities and events hosted by in motion partners in your community. Check back often as in motion is always updating the website with new events and activities to keep you in healthy and active.
About in motion:
Under the auspices of the South West Area Recreation Guild, in motion is a collaborative, community-based approach to promote physical activity to citizens in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton. Incorporating 90 minutes of daily physical activity for youth may have long term effects, including reducing your chances of chronic heart and stroke disease, preventing Type-2 diabetes and preventing some forms of cancer.
